What is Blind Slate PH

The Philippines' First Nationwide 72-Hour Film Festival

Every province. Every island. One challenge. You have exactly 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and deliver a completed short film. No extensions. No excuses.

But there is a catch — and you won't know what it is until the clock starts.

"At the exact moment the festival begins, three mandatory props are revealed to all registered filmmakers simultaneously. Every film must feature all three — physically present on screen, unambiguously visible. Miss one and you're out."

The props are chosen to be thematically unrelated. Nobody gets lucky by accident. The secrecy is the sport — and the story is yours to tell.

The Process

How It Works

01
Register
Pay your entry fee via GCash or Maya. Receive the full rulebook and a countdown to the start.
02
The Gun Fires
At noon on September 25, all three props are revealed live on Facebook and by simultaneous email blast. Your 72 hours begin.
03
Make Your Film
Write, shoot, edit, and deliver within 72 hours. All three props must appear on screen. No pre-production. No exceptions.
04
Judging
A panel evaluates all submissions. Top 10 announced October 5. Public audience vote runs October 5–12.
05
The Screening
Top 10 films screened live in La Union on October 17. Winners announced on the night. ₱20 entry.

Disqualification policy: Any film missing one or more props upon judges' review is immediately disqualified and forfeits all entry fees. This is acknowledged at registration. No appeals.

Typhoon Clause: If a state of calamity is declared in a registered entrant's province during the 72-hour production window, a 24-hour grace extension may be granted at organizers' discretion upon documented request. Submission deadlines for unaffected regions remain firm.

The Rules

What You Need to Know

All writing, shooting, and editing must occur within the official 72-hour window. Pre-production before the gun is grounds for disqualification.

All three props must appear on screen — physically present, not digitally composited or mentioned only in dialogue.

Each prop must be clearly visible for a minimum of three uninterrupted seconds of screen time.

Preferred runtime: 5 minutes. Maximum: 10 minutes including credits. Minimum: 3 minutes. Films of any length within this range are eligible.

Films may be in any Philippine language. English subtitles required for non-English or non-Filipino dialogue.

Submission via unlisted Vimeo link only. Platform timestamp is binding. Late submissions are not reviewed.

Teams of any size are permitted. One entry per registered team.

Adult content, hate speech, or content endangering minors results in immediate disqualification and possible reporting.
